002 A Sport vs. Sports: USA vs. Japan      “Sport” スポート と “Sports” スポーツ

What is the difference between “Sport” and “Sports”?

The Japanese use “sports” both in singular and plural use in Japanese: It sounds like “My most favorite sports is baseball.” Accordingly, most Japanese can’t hear “sport” while they always say “sports.”

In English one usually has to use “sport” for singular use and “sports” for plural use.
